Parent-Teacher Organization Meeting Minutes

I. Opening and Welcome – Sharon Gibson, President
II. Review of the Minutes from May, 2006 Meeting – Jen Olsen
- Minutes from the PTO meeting in May, 2006 will be available for review, just ask Jen Olsen.
III. Principal’s Report – Stephen Hoel
- Thank you to the parent who participated in the meals for conferences and the late start days.
- Thank you for making the 11 new teachers feel welcomed.
New School
- Please contact the School Board to voice your opinion about where the new school should be placed.
- The site will be selected at the December Board Meeting.
- The principal will be selected in spring, 2007
- Staff will be hired next fall.
- The new boundaries will be determined next fall.
- The new school will open in August, 2008.

Safety
- Safety is of utmost concern.
- Parents and visitors need to check in at the office and get a visitor badge when entering the school.
- Police respond quickly when Mr. Hoel has contacted them in the past.
- Teachers and parents are on the look out for people they do not know.
- Teachers will be talking with children about safety.
- The portables are the most vulnerable part of the school. But peep holes are to be installed at both adult and kid levels. And Children only leave the portables in twos or threes to keep the children safe.
- Evacuation Plan – Children walk to Patterson Park and are bused to the Carbon Valley Recreation Center. Parents must sign out their children at the Rec. Center if there is an evacuation. (No evacuation drill is scheduled for this year for the students. Teachers will participate in the drill.)
- Lock down Drill – Students will practice this safety procedure by staying hidden and away from windows.
- Fire drills – Students practice a drill every month. All 670 are out of the building within 2 minutes. In 4 minutes they are all accounted for.

- Directory will be out in the next couple of weeks.

VI. Innisbrook Fundraiser – Sharon Gibson
A BIG thank you to Carmen Montes for helping get all the paper work together. The PTO board gave a Chili’s gift certificate as a thank you.
- The Innisbrook Fundraiser raised $13,000 in profits.
- There will be no catalog fundraiser next year.
- The next fundraiser will be a “A-Thon”
- $400 was received from cash donations.
VII. 101+ Ways to Help
- 60 parents returned the survey.
VIII. PTO Website Update
- Shawn Warn and Linda Martyr are building a site off of the server.
- Pages will be updated.
IX. Toner/Cell phone donation program
- Donations are being taken at the front of the office or toner, cartridges, and cell phones
X. Teacher Appreciation Chairperson – Heather Cunningham
- Heather Cunningham is the Chairperson for Teacher Appreciation. If you are interested in making food for late start breakfast please contact her. A sign up sheet did go around the meeting.
XI. Room Parents are still needed
- A sign up sheet did go around the meeting to sign up for room parents.
XII. Treasurer’s Report – Sharon Lathrop
- $37,837 is in the account
- $6 per child is allotted for field trip transportation
- The carnival amended to the budget for $2,000. Kelly Morgan made the motion and Jill Reynolds seconded the motion. The amended budget was voted unanimously.
- Melissa Formby motioned to accept the budget and Kelly Morgan seconded the motion. The budget was accepted unanimously.
